Vijay Santhanam was born in Madras, India. He graduated from the University of Roorkee in 1986 and from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1988. His 21 years working in the corporate sector included senior marketing roles with Procter & Gamble and BP. Having taken an early retirement, Vijay was free to follow his passion for writing. His earlier published books (coauthored with Shyam Balasubramanian) are If Cricket Is a Religion, Sachin Is God, and The Business of Cricket: The Story of Sports Marketing in India. His latest book, My Stroke of Luck—Alphabet to Author, published by Hay House India in June 2013, tells the story of how Vijay harnessed his courage and determination to move from adversity to triumph when he became ill with a serious, disabling condition.
