Up Close with Reid and Cheryl: Q & A from the teachers

What first inspired Hay House to start the Movers and Shakers program?
Cheryl Richardson and Hay House teamed up to offer the Movers & Shakers workshop as a way to help individuals with a mission and message get their voices heard in the world. We knew that combining the Hay House experience of developing and promoting best selling authors, with Cheryl's track record as a sharp business coach and bestselling author who's created a global, multi-media platform, we could successfully launch the next generation of Movers and Shakers.

So, what happens at a Movers and Shakers conference?
During a Movers & Shakers program Reid and I challenge attendees to do something unconventional when looking at how to grow their audience - we invite them to first look at how they need to grow themselves. We take them on a journey to clarify their values, their vision, and their unique gifts. They learn how to communicate with a diverse group of people, the formula for delivering a moving and effective speech, and the components of a successful multi-media plan. Then, they combine the "who" with the "what" to start building their own unique, successful platform. And, we have a blast! There is so much talent in the room, and Reid and I love teaching them to move and shake!

Who comes to the Movers & Shakers events?
We have a wide variety of people who attend the program - authors, professional speakers, doctors, therapists, coaches, CEO's, technology gurus, teachers, and even veterinarians, contractors, and architects! The level of experience is also varied - beginners who are just developing their work, professionals who have already begun to build their platforms, and established Movers & Shakers who are ready to take the next leap with the latest information on using social media and technology to build a global platform.

What's the best part of the Movers & Shakers program?
The very best part, by far, is our "5-min moving speech" exercise when some attendees have a chance to get up in front of the audience and show their stuff, only to be met with thunderous applause and supportive feedback that catapults their speaking skills to a whole new level. It not only transforms the person speaking, it transforms everyone in the room. This exercise is the basis of the video submissions we receive that help us to determine who will be awarded one of three opportunities - a radio program on HayHouseRadio.com, a chance to deliver a live web event, and a brand new offering - a $10,000 US book contract with Hay House Publishing.
